Purchasing Xenopus laevis

We purchase all frogs for our colony from Nasco. Nasco frogs are consistently healthy and excellent layers. The drawback to this company is that the frogs tend to get backordered because of great demand. It is advised that you place the order several months before your anticipated need for the frogs. You should wait no less than two weeks from their arrival before using the frogs for your experiments.

Another distributor is  Xenopus Express.

Purchasing Xenopus tropicalis

The only place we knew of that sold tropicalis was Pacific Biological. They charged $35.00 per pigmented adult frog, and $100 for an adult albino tropicalis.  As of 7/19/2005, both Nasco and Xenopus Express offer x. tropicalis at comparable prices. Neither supplier, however seems to have albino x. tropicalis.
